About me

Hi, my name is Neil Vyas. Welcome to my Web page. I’m happy to have the opportunity to share some information about myself with you in order to help you feel more comfortable in choosing your physician.

Biography

I was born and raised in Southern California and come from a family of doctors. Much of my upbringing had a strong focus on health and wellness, and that’s what drove me to become a physician myself. I completed my undergraduate studies at USC and then went to UCLA for medical school. I enjoyed having the opportunity to do my residency training on the East Coast in Boston before coming back to UCLA to finish my fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery. I am thrilled to be back in the Los Angeles area, close to my family again. I worked in private practice for 3 years prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, where I now have a greater capacity to focus my energy solely on providing direct member care to the best of my ability.

About my practice

I practice both cornea and general ophthalmology and enjoy being an ophthalmologist as it allows me the opportunity to establish relationships with my members over time. As a cornea specialist, I treat medical and surgical diseases of the front part of the eye. I specialize in all forms of corneal transplantation including full, partial, and “ultra-thin” grafts. I also specialize in small-incision cataract surgery and have experience with all forms of premium intraocular lenses, including toric and multifocal lenses to correct astigmatism and presbyopia. As a surgeon, I value the trust members place in me with their vision and recognize the importance of working together with members to devise plans that best addresses their needs and desires. I enjoy treating members from all different backgrounds, and I am proud to be a LGBTQ care provider.

How I thrive

Maintaining life balance is very important to me. I studied vocal performance in college and enjoy this passion still by singing with different community choruses. I also love arts and theater and try to take advantage of Los Angeles’s robust live performance scene. I try to remain active by playing tennis, working out, and hiking. I’m slowly working on my goal of traveling the world, and I enjoy working abroad to help restore sight to those without better resources. I strive to maintain the relationships I’ve been blessed with in my life. I know that I cannot get through this life alone, and I’m grateful every day for those who I’m fortunate enough to call my family and close friends.
