Where I practice
Hello! My name is Maricela. I can’t wait to meet you. In the meantime, this web page should help you get to know me a little better!
I was born and raised in the greater Los Angeles area. I’ve spent some time living abroad but always come back home to Southern California. I love my city’s diversity. I define myself by the connections I’ve made in my community. I’m a Trojan, but I’m Bruin-friendly! I’m proud to be the first physician in my family.
About my practice
My primary training is in family medicine, a specialty that provides holistic and comprehensive healthcare to people of all ages. I chose this specialty because I love working with people from all walks of life. My subspecialty training is in palliative medicine: a philosophy of medicine that focuses on relieving symptoms such as pain or nausea and explores the member’s personal values to improve quality of life. I also have hospice training, which is palliative medicine for those at the end of life. I’m grateful and honored to work with a team of nurses, social workers, home health aides, and chaplains to provide care to our members in the Santa Clarita Valley. Since I currently perform home visits, my office is my car! I also am in the hospital one day per week, and I have a special interest in serving the LGBTQIA community.
How I thrive
I try my best to live in the moment. I’m the mother of 3 young daughters and 2 Yorkies. I’m a daughter, a sister, and a wife. I enjoy science fiction and actually met my husband for the first time while in line for Star Wars.
