Biography
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and attended California Institute of Technology for my undergraduate studies. I earned a medical degree from UC San Francisco and completed my residency at USC/Doheny Eye Institute. I also served as chief resident after my residency. I completed 2 fellowships: a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and a fellowship in Cornea/Refractive Surgery at Doheny Eye Institute. I joined the faculty at USC’s Keck School of Medicine in 1999 as assistant professor and am Director of the Cornea Institute in the Vision Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In 2011, I took a position at Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University as Division head of Pediatric Ophthalmology at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital before returning to Southern California in 2015 at USC Roski Eye Institute as Director of Cornea/Refractive Surgery. In 2019, I was privileged to joined Kaiser Permanente South Bay.
About my practice
My adult practice is focused on cataracts, corneal/external diseases, and refractive surgery. We use most advanced techniques in targeted corneal transplantation as well as laser technology for treatment of refractive and cataract disorders. Aside from general pediatric ophthalmology, I also focus on pediatric anterior segment disorders including cataracts, corneal disorders, and glaucoma. I have combined my training as a pediatric ophthalmologist with advanced techniques in pediatric anterior segment to enhance and maximize the treatment and care for these difficult and devastating disorders in children.
How I thrive
Aside from my professional work, I enjoy simple things in life. I love eating, especially when I travel, enjoying local cuisines. My hobbies include tennis, ping pong, and movies.
