Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I am a pulmonary and critical care physician. I diagnose and treat problems of the lungs in both outpatients and hospital inpatients, including patients in the intensive care unit. I am an osteopathic physician as well as an internist.
I am originally from California. Prior to becoming a physician, I worked as a radiologic technologist and an epidemiologist. I was drawn to pulmonary medicine because not being able to breathe is the worst feeling in the world. As a pulmonary physician, anything I can do to make you breathe easier is very rewarding to me.
About my practice
My main interests in pulmonary medicine are asthma and cystic fibrosis, although I treat all diseases of the lungs. From my training as an osteopathic physician, I take a holistic approach, and assess the total patient in terms of biological, psychological, and social factors that may be contributing to your pulmonary condition.
How I thrive
I am married and have two daughters, one foster daughter, and one dog – that thinks she is a daughter. My family provides great balance to counter the stress of being a physician. Just spending time with them has a great calming affect (usually). I like to walk the dog at least twice a day, which gives me time for introspection. I try to exercise as my schedule allows, and make an effort to eat right. Humor and having a couple of good laughs a day is also very important. For relaxation, I enjoy reading, and watching ice hockey.
