Hello, I am a cardiac anesthesiologist here at Kaiser Permanente. I welcome you to my Web page. I have been working here for about 10 years and I love what I do. I have met many of you and I feel fortunate that I am able to put smiles on your faces, offer you comfort, or wipe your tears.
I am from India. I came to North America in the late 1970s, so I have spent more years in the United States than in India. I was always fascinated by the specialty of surgery, but wanting to raise a family, I decided to become an anesthesiologist. After being in private practice for 20 years, I decided to go for further training for cardiac anesthesia. I must say, it was worth it! If I had not chosen the medical field, I would have pursued a career in music. I love gardening, sewing, and reading. I ran my first marathon at the age of 54, and have been running ever since! I love my family, and I get actively involved in their lives, but in a good way—to reinforce good values. We are more like friends.
I am a cardiac anesthesiologist. Our group works collegially—if one person has a strength in a particular area he or she will help out others in challenging situations. The team approach has worked very well. I am board certified to perform ultrasound examinations. Doing these exams is quite gratifying because it can change the course of patient treatment for the better. I keep up to date on the latest advances in my field by attending various ultrasound meetings. Last year I renewed my board certification in echocardiography.
Music, mathematics, and meditation are all important to me. They balance my life. I try to practice what I believe, and that is why I love to listen to music, do calculations in my head (no calculator), and meditate.
