About me
Hello, my name is Dr. Griselda Potka, my friends call me Gris. I'm delighted to present my credentials to you and share more about myself. It's essential that you feel at ease with your personal physician, and I hope this page helps you get to know me better.
Biography
I was born in Albania and immigrated to the United States when I was 8 years old. I grew up on the East Coast in Connecticut and eventually moved out to California for my residency training. I speak Albanian and some Italian.
As an immigrant child, I often helped my parents navigate the medical system. Throughout that journey, I looked up to many of the doctors we encountered as role models who played a vital role in helping my family stay healthy. This experience deeply influenced my own path in medicine.
I absolutely love Italian culture and food. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Tuscany, which deepened my appreciation for the region. After finishing my residency, I fulfilled a dream by spending a month traveling throughout Italy, soaking in the rich culture and culinary delights.
About my practice
While children are a vulnerable population, they are also incredibly resilient and adaptable. I chose pediatrics because children continually amaze me with their strength, curiosity, and capacity for growth. Watching my patients grow up, from their first steps to navigating the teenage years, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. Each stage of development presents its own challenges and joys, and being a part of that journey is truly special.
I also understand that parenthood can be overwhelming at times. I find great fulfillment in reassuring parents, helping them through the difficult moments, and providing guidance that makes them feel more confident in caring for their children. Whether it’s calming a worried new parent or supporting a family through a health challenge, my goal is to be a trusted partner in their child’s health and well-being.
How I thrive
On weekends, I thrive by immersing myself in nature through hiking and practicing yoga. Both activities ground me and help me maintain balance amid a busy life. I have a deep love for the ocean, and whenever I can, I make time to go swimming — it’s my way of reconnecting with the world around me.
My family and my dog bring me the most happiness, and spending quality time with them is a priority. Whether it's a cozy evening at home or a fun outdoor adventure, they are my source of joy and inspiration.
One personal goal I’m currently working on is learning Spanish. I believe that being able to communicate more effectively with my Spanish-speaking patients will help me provide even better care, and I’m excited to continue improving in this area.
