Accepting new patients.
Hello and welcome to my Web page. I am happy you are interested to know a bit more about me. I hope you find this information helpful. I feel very lucky to be practicing medicine at Kaiser Permanente and hope you will be happy with the care we offer.
I was born in the Netherlands and grew up living in several different countries around the world. I completed my last two years of high school in the United States before returning to the Netherlands to attend medical school in Utrecht. After finishing medical school I worked for a few years in internal medicine before moving to the United States and completing my residency training in Connecticut. While in the Netherlands I met my wife, who is originally from southern California. Family ties are what led us to settle in this particular area of California.
I believe that the role of a primary care physician is twofold: on the one hand, management of present issues in an effective and appropriate way and, one the other, preventive care to avoid illness and suffering later in life. I think this is best served through evidence-based medicine while being able to personalize it for any given situation and person. In order to do so, I strive to know the patients I serve as well as I can and I am excited at the opportunity to build long-term relationships with them. Every day I feel privileged to be able to do this work. I am board certified in internal medicine.
I like to spend my time off work with my wife and children. My main source of exercise is cycling. I love to watch any sport, though preferably soccer. Whenever possible we like to travel and explore new places.
