Where I practice
Hi, I am Dr. Edward Mun, a general surgeon and a bariatric surgeon at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. Welcome to my page.
I was born in South Korea but later moved to Torrance, CA with my family. I was able to experience two years of high school in the South Bay before heading East for college and training. I attended Yale University and Harvard Medical School for my education. I did my surgical residency and fellowship in Boston, and ended up staying at Harvard Medical School as an academic surgeon for over 13 years. However, I always missed my family and the beautiful California weather. Despite several previous failed attempts at coming back to California, I finally moved back in 2009, to my hometown. I am very happy to be back in the South Bay and thoroughly enjoy every day here.
About my practice
My mission in life is to provide high-quality surgical care to my patients. I have particular interests in minimally invasive general surgeries: hernias of all kinds, as well as colon, gallbladder, stomach, and other gastrointestinal procedures, and particularly weight-loss operations for obesity. I strive to remain a caring surgeon with the professional expertise and technical skills needed in my field.
How I thrive
Traveling, golfing, hiking, cycling, swimming, and running are the things that tend to relax me when I'm not working. I enjoy taking full advantage of SoCal weather.
