Where I practice
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I am originally from Texas; I consider myself half Texan and half Armenian.
I went to medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where I also did my psychiatry residency. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. I have a long-time interest in brain anatomy and function, which led to me getting subspecialty certification in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry from the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties. I moved to California to be closer to family. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2016. Prior to that, I treated veterans for eleven years as staff psychiatrist at a VA Hospital in North Carolina, and then the VA West Los Angeles Medical Center. I have been active in teaching and supervising medical students and residents for many years, and am currently a volunteer clinical faculty member at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
About my practice
Getting well and feeling good can be hard work. Something usually has to change. It may be changing your thoughts or changing your behavior through therapy; it may be through taking a medication. I am always cautious with psychiatric medications. I will work with you on your goals for change.
How I thrive
I enjoy spending time with family, a good podcast, long hikes, and eating Texas barbecue.
