About me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I’m happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice.

Biography

I grew up in New England, and studied English and art history in college. But in the 1990s, I made two big changes—I moved to California and I went to medical school. I continue to enjoy reading and the arts, as well as spending time outdoors.

About my practice

I see members at the Lomita and Carson medical offices. I practice general adult psychiatry. I believe that in order to be emotionally well we need to be sure we’re taking care of ourselves—mentally and physically. This means eating sensibly and regularly throughout the day, being physically active, getting enough sleep, and staying connected to other people. At times, however, psychiatric symptoms can be strong. In those times, proper use of psychiatric medications can be very helpful in the treatment of mental illness, and in working toward the goal of mental health. I’m interested in how I can work with members to improve their mental health in various ways—not just through medication. I think that medication works best when used along with other modalities such as exercise, nutrition, and a balanced lifestyle as part of a mental health program.

How I thrive

I try to balance work with recreation. I ask my members what they are doing for recreation, and I try to remember to ask myself this question regularly.
