About me
Welcome to my Web page! I am a pathologist and consider myself very fortunate to be part of the San Diego group at Kaiser Permanente. The Department of Pathology strives to provide excellent diagnostic and laboratory management as a part of your overall care at Kaiser Permanente.
Biography
I am a Southern California native who was born in Newport Beach, but grew up in Del Mar. I graduated from University of California Berkeley with an undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cell Biology prior to obtaining my medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina. It was during my medical school training that I found Pathology to be the most interesting field because it focuses on diagnostics with an integration of cellular biology and is at the forefront of scientific innovations. I returned to San Diego to complete my Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency and Surgical Pathology fellowship at University of California San Diego. It was during residency that my interest peaked in gastrointestinal, pancreatobiliary, and liver pathology, and I decided to complete a second fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in this subspecialty. I am honored to be a part of Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
As a surgical pathologist, I am involved in the care of our patients by diagnosing diseases upon gross and microscopic examination of surgical and biopsy specimens. These diagnoses help our clinical colleagues determine and guide appropriate treatment regimens, clinical care, and follow up for our patients. My subspecialty includes gastrointestinal, pancreatobiliary, and liver pathology.
How I thrive
I am privileged to be practicing pathology in my hometown surrounded by family and friends! As a new father, I enjoy every moment spent together with my wife and daughter. I find my work-life balance by enjoying all San Diego has to offer in outdoor activities, community events, and great restaurants.
