About me
I am a board-certified medical oncologist at Kaiser Permanente’s Bellflower Medical Offices, specializing in hematology and oncology. This field is both complex and deeply rewarding. I am passionate about guiding members and their families through some of life’s most challenging moments with compassion, clinical excellence, and care based on evidence and current research.
Biography
I was born in Mexico and raised near the border in San Diego. My parents were hardworking and instilled in me the belief that education is the foundation for a better future. Although I did not always envision becoming a doctor, my curiosity for science and my desire to help others naturally led me to medicine.
My passion for oncology grew during training, where I witnessed firsthand the resilience of patients facing cancer. I had the opportunity to work at Kaiser Permanente’s Bellflower Medical Offices as a hematology/oncology fellow and was drawn to the culture of collaboration and kindness. When the opportunity to join the team arose, I accepted without hesitation. Since then, I’ve continued to find inspiration in our dedicated staff, supportive colleagues, and wonderful members.
About my practice
My clinical expertise includes gastrointestinal, breast, head and neck, genitourinary, cutaneous (including melanoma), sarcoma, and lung cancers, as well as thyroid, thymic, and other endocrine tumors. I also care for members with both malignant and benign hematologic conditions.
I am actively involved in regional multidisciplinary teams where experts in medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgery, pathology, and other specialties collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans. These team discussions result in shared learning and help ensure that members benefit from the latest national best practices and clinical innovations.
How I thrive
I believe that maintaining balance is essential to living a fulfilling life. I cherish spending time with my husband and our 2 sons — whether we’re riding bikes, walking our dog, or enjoying a good football game together. I also love reading and finding new ways to stay active and grounded.
