About me
I am a Southern California native, and I am excited to serve the community where I grew up! Interested in math and science, I attended California Institute of Technology and received an undergraduate degree in biology. Through undergrad, I found great appreciation for the humanistic applications of science and engineering in the treatment of disease, which drew me to the field of medicine. As a medical student at UCLA, years of competitive athletics (water polo and swimming), along with a biomechanics background, created an early interest in the field of orthopaedic surgery. Having shoulder issues myself growing up, I was naturally drawn to the subspecialty of shoulder and elbow surgery.
Biography
I completed my orthopaedic residency at Washington University in St. Louis, where I assisted in the care of the St. Louis Blues hockey team and local St. Louis high school football teams. Following residency, I did additional subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute/Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Having trained under world-renowned surgeons through residency and fellowship, I am thrilled to bring advanced treatment and surgical techniques to members at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City.
About my practice
Trained as an orthopedic surgeon, I have a specialized interest and training in the treatment of shoulder and elbow injuries and pathology. I believe in a member-centered approach to care that involves shared and informed decision-making, and I offer both surgical and nonsurgical care for musculoskeletal ailments. I specialize in the treatment of sports injuries around the shoulder and elbow, including shoulder dislocations, throwing injuries, ligament tears, and cartilage or osteochondral injuries. I also specialize in the treatment of traumatic injuries and fractures of the upper extremity in addition to degenerative conditions such as shoulder or elbow arthritis and rotator cuff tears. Going back to my undergraduate years, I have had a passion for scientific and medical research and have presented original publications at national meetings, published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles as well as book chapters. I look to continue to contribute to the latest orthopaedic research and bring up-to-date medical and surgical care to members.
How I thrive
In my free time, I love to stay active. I enjoy running, biking, swimming, surfing, basketball, and hiking, and I look forward to all that Southern California has to offer. I have recently discovered skiing and try to make to the slopes whenever I get a free moment. I am an avid traveler and enjoy experiencing different cultures and sharing new cuisines with family and friends. As a classically trained violinist, I find it relaxing to play when I find a free moment.
