About me
I was born in Massachusetts, but the snow and the cold there eventually drove me to the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned my bachelor’s degree. I stayed on in Austin for almost 15 years, serving the community as a paramedic, before I found myself back in Boston at Northeastern University for my master’s degree in physician assistant studies.
My husband, whom I met in San Francisco shortly after starting my career there as a physician assistant, was born in the Philippines and was missing island life. Our dream of bringing him back to a place that reminded him of home became a reality when I had the opportunity to work in Hawaii. In the end Maui chose us. Though life has taken me to different parts of the country, my family remains in New England. We like to visit them in the summer, when we can enjoy the warm weather, lobster rolls, and fried clams!
About my practice
I've always been drawn to both problem-solving and connecting with people on a personal level. When I became a physician assistant, emergency medicine and urgent care came naturally to me after so many years as a paramedic and emergency medical technician in central Texas.
To keep up with the latest medical research, I read current journal articles both in print and online, attend professional conferences, and participate in continuing medical education programs. I learn something new every day from my patients, my practice, and my colleagues in the various disciplines represented here.
The people I work with at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii and the patients we serve are unlike any other work team or patient population that I've experienced. When I interviewed here, I was impressed with the pride that the providers took in their work, the quality of care delivered, and the professionalism of Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. The helpful support staff, the modern technology, and the philosophy of putting patients above all else make this a wonderful place to practice.
My own approach is to listen closely to whatever my patients would like to tell me in order to understand as much as possible about their lives, beliefs, and expectations. This allows us to develop a trusting and collaborative relationship and results in care that’s appropriate for the individual.
How I thrive
Spending time with my husband is my highest priority when I’m away from work. We enjoy cooking together, being able to go outside year-round, staying physically active, playing in the ocean paddling, surfing, or snorkeling, and traveling. Being positive and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are what keep me grounded and happy.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
