Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Male
I’m accepting new patients. Please call 808-432-7600.
As an Air Force dependent I lived in various places around the world; however, my family eventually settled down in California, where I went to medical school at Western University of Health Sciences. I then did my psychiatric residency in Hawaii at Tripler Army Medical Center, where I was chief resident in my final year of residency. Hawaii is also where I met my wife, who’s my biggest supporter. We now have a young daughter who keeps us on our toes.
Growing up, I always thought about a career in medicine and I was fortunate enough to have experiences that inspired me and reinforced this interest. I’ve always enjoyed helping others, and in psychiatry I feel that I have the opportunity to help my patients when they are going through some of their most difficult times.
To stay current in my field, I attend professional conferences throughout the year and read various medical journals. I’m also a member of the American Psychiatric Association, which gives me access to the latest developments in my field.
After moving back to Hawaii and becoming familiar with the medical community here, I determined that the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) is a great fit for me. The large group practice approach at HPMG allows for close collaboration among HPMG providers, which helps to address all of the patient’s needs—whether physical or emotional.
My goal is to treat each of my patients with respect and to instill in them a feeling of hope and strength. I strive to make sure they feel heard and to understand their unique perspectives so I can work collaboratively with them toward positive change.
To stay fit, I exercise several times a week, either working out at the gym or running at Ala Moana Beach. Following a healthy diet and getting adequate sleep also helps me be at my best. My favorite pastimes are spending time with my family, photography, cheering on the Lakers, and playing my guitar.
