Kaiser Permanente provider
English, Malayalam, Tamil
My gender: Female
Hospital-based provider. Not available for routine appointments.
I was born in New Jersey and lived there until I finished middle school. I then moved to India to attend Girideepam Bethany English High School before going on to medical school at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute. I came back to the U.S. and did my family medicine internship and residency in Ohio at Cleveland Clinic’s Akron General, where I was chief resident.
My husband and I moved to Hawaii planning to spend a year in a beautiful and exotic place. We fell in love with the islands and with Kaiser Permanente, and before we knew it, one year had turned into an indefinite stay.
My parents have been the biggest influence in my life. They’re both amazing physicians, deeply devoted to their patients. I have fond memories of doing house calls with my father and visiting nursing homes with my mother. To this day, they have patients who travel from as far as North Carolina for their annual well visit in New Jersey!
I chose the specialty of family practice mainly because it involves caring for people over the course of their lives. It’s most gratifying to me to develop bonds with patients as I see them through different circumstances, including difficult ones.
To stay current in the medical field, I read professional journals, access UpToDate and other online resources, attend medical conferences and continuing education programs, and consult colleagues for advice on less common situations. My membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians also provides me information on the latest developments in my field.
The Hawaii Permanente Medical Group focuses on delivering high-quality care, always striving to do what's best for the patient. As a physician in this fine organization I feel supported in my efforts to deliver the best care I can. I especially appreciate the collegiality among providers, the advanced technology, and the great support staff.
It’s my intention to treat my patients with the same care, concern, respect, and attention to detail that I would expect for my own family. Physicians should always be mindful of the concern and uncertainty that patients may be experiencing.
Connecting with my patients over matters unrelated to their immediate health issues is important to me. I've found that we can always find something we have in common—whether it’s a country we’ve both visited, hobbies, foods we like, movies, or pets. Oftentimes these non-medical conversations are the most memorable.
Hiking and traveling with my husband refresh my mind, body, and soul! In my spare time outside of work, I enjoy a change of pace by reading, entertaining friends at home, photography, learning to play the ukulele, and going to the beach. I’m also fortunate to work with wonderful people who create a harmonious environment that’s also mentally stimulating.
