Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Female
I'm accepting new patients
I was born and raised in Northern California. After completing my medical education I spent several years on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona. I then returned to the California coast and practiced medicine for almost a decade as a small town family doctor. My family relocated to Oahu in 2008 where my partner attended law school. We are now excited to return to a more relaxed and rural life in the lovely upland community of Waimea, on the Big Island, where we plan to stay.
I became interested in family medicine through a special medical program offered in the University of California system that offers medical training focused on collaborative problem solving while treating the patient as a whole. I’m certain it prepared me well for life as a family medicine physician and the special effort I put into collaborative health planning and communication with my patients, their families and with other medical providers. I believe that no disease or illness affects a body part in isolation and that as human beings we are an interdependent part of a larger system – be it a family, a workplace, a school or a community. And this, to me, is the very essence of family medicine. I also have my Hospice and Palliative Medicine certification, am a member of the Kaiser Permanente Prevention Committee, and I am the Hawaii region’s physician representative for kp.org, Kaiser Permanente’s public website. In addition to English, I also speak Spanish.
Through laughter, nature, family and a community of friends.
