About me

I was born in Hong Kong, China, but spent most of my life in New York City. I moved to Hawaii in 2009 to be closer to my husband’s family. We have two adorable little girls.

About my practice

My parents were my primary influence in encouraging me to pursue medicine. Although they are not physicians themselves, they are truly caring and nurturing people who only want the best for me. I believe that a career in medicine encompasses the values my parents have and much more. I decided to specialize in pediatrics because I love babies. Although it can be challenging to care for them because they are unable to communicate, it’s worth every minute. I enjoy getting to know the families, some of whom are with us for several weeks if their child is born premature. Caring for these babies is particularly rewarding when I am able to see them grow and develop into healthy and happy infants. Within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, it is great to collaborate with ancillary personnel, practitioners, and respiratory therapists because they help me to provide the best patient care for our premature infants. My philosophy of care is that babies come first. Taking care of them builds the foundation for their health which helps everything else fall into place. Seeing the progression and growth of these babies always reminds me of why I chose to specialize in neonatology. I am also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

How I thrive

Spending time with my family, especially my husband and daughters reminds me of how lucky I am to be alive and healthy. In my free time I love to read, take Zumba fitness classes and travel.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
