About me

I was born and raised on Maui and graduated from H.P. Baldwin High School. My parents instilled in me values of hard work, caring for others, and lifelong learning.

 

For my Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Neurobiology I went to the University of Washington and then came home to attend medical school at the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine. I did an internship at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center in preliminary medicine followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in breast and body imaging, both at the University of Southern California.

 

After spending a few more years on the mainland, I was excited to return to Hawaii to practice medicine and be near my family.

About my practice

Medicine gives me the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to my community by helping people lead healthier and happier lives. I feel passionate about my chosen specialty, because radiology can be critical in helping other physicians diagnose illness and explain symptoms to patients.

 

To stay on top of the most up-to-date medical research, I read journals and attend professional conferences every year, both locally and on the mainland. I also maintain certification by the American Board of Radiology, which requires periodic exams. Lastly, my memberships in the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the Hawaii Radiological Society, and the Society of Breast Imaging gives me ready access to the latest developments in my specialty.

 

In my opinion, the physicians and providers of Hawaii Permanente Medical Group truly care for patients and put their well-being above all else. It’s a joy to work with a group of such talented, dedicated medical professionals. I also appreciate the very helpful support staff, the beautiful facilities, and the modern technology at Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii.

 

It’s my belief that each patient should be treated like a family member. Everyone deserves our undivided attention and the very best care available. In my own practice I most enjoy radiology procedures that allow me to work closely with patients and to learn more about their lives.

How I thrive

To stay physically fit, I work out at the gym several times a week, take aerobics classes, and swim in both the ocean and pool. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, going to my kids’ activities in and outside of school, and relaxing with a good book. Best of all is seeing my kids laughing, smiling, and enjoying their childhood.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
