About me

I was born in Honolulu and attended Roosevelt High School. I went to the University of Puget Sound in Washington State for my Bachelor of Science and came back to Hawaii to attend the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine. I did an internal medicine internship at UCLA-Olive View, a residency at the University of Colorado in diagnostic radiology, and a fellowship in breast imaging at the University of Colorado. I’m now board certified by the American Board of Radiology.

About my practice

Medicine was a field where I could combine my two greatest interests—the biological sciences and a desire to help people in need. Radiology appealed to me as a specialty because of the wide range of procedures involved in this field and the cutting-edge technology utilized.

I’ve co-authored research on non-invasive diagnosis of pulmonary blockage that was published in The Permanente Journal, blockage of a pulmonary artery published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, ratings of severity of pain published in the Hawaii Medical Journal and presented as a poster at the American College of Emergency Physicians Annual Scientific Assembly in San Francisco, and pain treatment for shoulder arthroscopy published in the Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery.

In addition, I’ve presented recommendations for mammography screening at a meeting of the American Roentgen Ray Society and provided educational insights on benign breast tumors at a conference of the Radiological Society of North America.

To stay up-to-date in my field, I attend medical conferences, read professional journals, access online resources, and attend continuing medical education programs. My affiliations with the Radiological Society of North America and the American Roentgen Ray Society of Breast Imaging also provide me with the latest developments in radiology.

I joined the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because of its reputation for excellence. Practicing here also gives me the opportunity to serve and live among the people I grew up with and feel most connected to.

My intention is to always do what’s best for my patients. When I see patients for biopsies and breast ultrasounds, I always try to put them at ease.

How I thrive

To keep physically fit, I try to stay active. I like to surf, snowboard, and spend time with my family, especially outdoors. For my mind and mood, I travel, spend time in reflection, and practice gratitude for my many blessings.

Kaiser Permanente works together with participating providers to ensure all cultural competence obligations are met. We are dedicated to ensuring that services are provided in a culturally competent manner to all members, including those with limited English proficiency and reading skills; as well as those with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
