Emilani J. Crow, MD
I speak: English, Spanish
My gender: Female
Where I practice
I was born and raised primarily on Oahu, but I also spent some of my youth in upstate New York, which made me appreciate our return to Hawaii’s tradewind weather. My husband is a grant writing consultant and we have two children together.
About my practice
I chose to specialize in family medicine so that I could take care of the whole family. Before medical school, I volunteered in the U.S. Peace Corps overseas. I grew to appreciate just how much of an honor it is to help guide and strengthen a family’s health, and I am privileged to participate in my patients’ overall wellness. I also chose family medicine as my specialty because I knew I wanted to practice a broad field of medicine. As a member of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I appreciate the opportunity to build my practice within a highly integrated and supportive system. The entire team of medical staff and other support personnel are always there for me and my patients, so I am able to focus my attention on the families that I care for. As part of my philosophy of care, I like to build relationships. I want to hear a family’s thoughts about their health care and expand on their needs. I believe we are partners in this together. It is important to me that each family member understands the care plan I suggest and why, and that they are comfortable working with me to make important health care decisions. In addition to providing care for patients and families in my practice, I also participate on the Kaiser Permanente Asthma Committee.
How I thrive
To stay fit, I try to walk regularly. To stay relaxed mentally, I go to the beach, travel with my family and explore on and off island. I treasure my family time and highly value education, so I also stay active with my children’s school.
