About me
I was born on Oahu into a family of educators, where I learned early the value of diligent study, a strong work ethic, and compassion. After graduating from Moanalua High School, I earned a degree in molecular cell biology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and went on to complete my medical degree at the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). I remained at JABSOM for both residency and fellowship training, where I was honored with the Po'okela Resident of the Year Award. I'm board-certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, and I'm a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
About my practice
For several summers, I volunteered at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center, spending time with patients and listening to their stories. Those moments taught me that medicine is not only about science, but also about compassion — the chance to walk beside people during some of the most difficult times in their lives. It showed me that as a doctor, I could combine my love of science with the privilege of building deep, meaningful relationships.
I value the holistic approach of psychiatry, which looks at every part of a person's life — emotional, social, and physical. It's gratifying to help patients and their families navigate the path to better mental health, especially as new advances in the field continue to expand what we can offer.
I've published research in molecular cardiology and presented on topics such as psychosis, autism, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, attention-deficit disorder, and problem-based learning. My interests include child and adolescent psychiatry, cultural psychiatry, and medical education.
How I thrive
I enjoy playing basketball, doing strength training, cooking, discovering new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with family. I engage with my community by volunteering with the Junior Chamber International Honolulu and Hawaii CARES, a support service for those with emotional health crises.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
