About me

Growing up in the housing projects of Los Angeles, I witnessed the hurts that women experienced in my predominantly-black community. This inspired me to pursue nursing as a career so I would be able to have a positive impact on women within and outside of my community. My passion for pregnancy and childbirth came from stories that my mother passed down to me as one of eight children that were born at home in rural Louisiana. At fourteen years old, I would experience my first of many childbirth experiences by supporting a family member through her labor. This led to me knowing that I wanted to pursue labor and delivery, and eventually become a nurse midwife. I achieved this when I attended University of Southern California, where I received my bachelor's degree in nursing in 1994. I eventually received my master's degree in nursing at Georgetown University in 2015 after 22 years of RN practice.

I moved to Georgia from San Diego, Calif. with two of my three children in 2021, seeking new opportunities and a change of scenery. I enjoy the Atlanta area and I look forward to continuing to help women with my Kaiser Permanente team.

About my practice

I have witnessed many different births, from high-risk to low-risk, and have gained a multitude of experience from the different settings I have worked in. My philosophy as a provider is to foster a healthy patient-provider relationship that helps the family welcome a new member. I also work to educate women on healthy lifestyle choices that will lead to long-term good health and hygiene. I believe that teaching women through care will help them to live healthier lives for their entire lifetime. As an African American woman, I realize my role as a provider is to help women within my community become educated about the different health choices they make and connect with them through our similar experiences.

How I thrive

When I am not caring for my patients, I find myself in the backyard with my daughters and our dogs. We have been working on starting a backyard garden, and over the past year have made several flowerbeds and grown many different types of vegetables and flowers. I also enjoy taking walks in my neighborhood and staying active, especially when I have a friend to walk with. One of my daughters enjoys hiking, so we have taken time to explore the lovely hiking trails of Georgia.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. Board certification may not reflect contracted services available from providers listed in our directory. If you have questions regarding this or about any of our providers, call us at 1-800-611-1811 (toll free). For the hearing and speech impaired: 1-888-865-5813 or 711 (TTY).
