About me
My interest in eye care started when I was in elementary school being treated for a focusing problem while in the first grade. I continued to see both optometrists and ophthalmologists as I progressed through school giving me pronounced exposure to field of eye care as I grew up, further interesting me to pursue it as a career. I grew up in Jonesboro, Ga., attending Mt. Zion High School and graduating with a full scholarship to attend the University of Georgia. After graduating UGA with high honors in 1998, I went on to attend Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., where I graduated with honors in 2003. I completed internships in both primary care and family eye care and am board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. I had the honor to serve Georgia's students needing low vision services while working with the Smoky Powell Clinic at the Georgia Academy for the Blind. I practiced in the private practice setting prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2023.
About my practice
I practice primary eye care, providing care for disease diagnosis, management and treatment. I always believe education is the key to most things, including eye care. Understanding the process of what is occurring to my patients' eyes, helps them understand why we need to treat and the different aspects of treatment needed: medical versus surgical versus monitoring. Patient care is an individual concern, and as such, treatment needs to be tailored to each patient.
How I thrive
Life is to be lived as an active participant. I need to enjoy time with my family and friends, and what I do for a living needs to make a difference to my patients and our community. I live where I serve, which is in the community where I grew up, making the impact I can for the good of our area. I enjoy spending time with my family. I love outdoor activities including camping, hiking and cycling. I am an avid reader, amateur woodworker and a struggling musician (ukulele and guitar.) Currently, I am learning Spanish to better myself and be able to better communicate with our members.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need.
