Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. Hi, I'm Dr. Eskandar, a hospitalist at the Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley Medical Offices. For those who don't know what a hospitalist is, we diagnose and treat patients who find themselves in a hospital due to illness or injury.
In my home country of Syria, I worked hard and earned a place in medical school at Damascus University, where I learned much and discovered an interest in internal medicine. Wanting to continue my education at the best schools for internal medicine, I came to America and interned with the Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey. I then was accepted as a resident by St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1998, after meeting my wife, we set off for California where we had friends and family. A number of colleagues had told me about Kaiser Permanente and the great work environment they provided for physicians as well as the wonderful care they provided to patients. Because I wanted to be able to focus on patient care and not the business aspects of medicine, Kaiser Permanente seemed to be a good fit for me. In 2014, I was granted The Physician Exceptional Contribution Award for the Antelope Valley Area.
About my practice
As your hospitalist, I encourage you to ask questions and get involved in your own treatment plan while you are in the hospital. Learn more about your diagnoses, your treatment options, and the likely outcomes of each. While I am not always in the hospital, I am available by phone to address any concerns or clarify an issue. When in doubt, give me a call.
How I thrive
I live with my wife and three boys. Both my parents and several siblings live nearby. We enjoy spending time together whenever we can. To relax and recharge I enjoy playing cards with friends, watching exciting sports events and traveling to new locales. Since coming to America, we've visited several countries and states, Canada, and Mexico. My favorite spot so far is Hawaii. It is a beautiful paradise.
