Where I practice
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I'm glad to have the opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.
I was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley. I started thinking about being a doctor when I was four years old, because I wanted to cure a neighbor girl who had Down Syndrome. I joined the Air Force after high school and lived in Germany and Texas during my four-year enlistment. A few months after my discharge from the Air Force, I began college as a music major, on my way to rock stardom. Four months later my interest in medicine reawakened after performing CPR on a college professor. I changed my major to biology but kept up with music classes. I earned my medical degree from UC Irvine College of Medicine, completed my residency and fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. After training, I worked in private practice for 14 years, mainly in Long Beach, working with children and teens in an underserved population. I joined Kaiser Permanente in October 2012.
About my practice
I enjoy working with people who are trying to solve problems in their lives. The journey to better mental health can be challenging and rewarding. I feel honored that I am able to travel on that journey for a time with my patients.
How I thrive
I have found a few things that help me stay healthy, physically and mentally. I try to exercise regularly and follow a whole-food, plant-based diet. Music has been a big part of my life and I have played in a few tribute bands. My family is the biggest part my life that keeps me centered. I also love a good comedy.
