Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I am trained in clinical and molecular genetics as well as pathology. I primarily see medical genetics patients at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center.
I was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and graduated from Dow Medical College in 1995. I came to the United States for further training. I completed my pathology residency training at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, and did my residency training in medical genetics at the University of Miami. After finishing my clinical genetics residency, I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for a fellowship in molecular genetics pathology.
About my practice
I am unique in that I am trained in both pathology and genetics. This gives me a comprehensive understanding of disease processes. My special interest is in cancer genetics, but I also see patients with other genetic disorders. I treat both adult and pediatric patients, and supervise genetic counselors at the Riverside Medical Center. I am actively involved in teaching University of California medical students. As chairperson of Kaiser Permanente Genetic Symposiums, I help bring physicians up to date about the latest advances in the field of genetics.
How I thrive
In my opinion, the fundamental way to stay well is to identify and eliminate the causes of stress in one’s life. For my own wellness, I enjoy the outdoors and nature. I like to go on hikes, and spend time with my family. My favorite park is the Everglades National Park in Florida.
