About me
Welcome to my Web site. Bienvenidos, I hope this information is helpful in letting you know a bit about me. I had the good fortune of spending two years in Argentina, so I speak, read, and write Spanish fairly well. Comments or questions addressed to me in Spanish or English are welcome.
Biography
I am truly a Californian, born and raised in Redlands, and I currently live near Redlands in rural Yucaipa. I love the access we have here to the mountains, beaches, and deserts, all in our backyards, and sometimes in our front yards. I met my beautiful wife at Brigham Young University many years ago, and we now have seven wonderful children, two boys and five girls. They keep our home busy and always interesting. We also have dogs, a cat, two chinchillas, two cockatiels, a horse and a bunch of chickens. The favorite family sport is soccer, with some baseball and volleyball and a lot of music lessons thrown in.
About my practice
My father was a dermatologist in Redlands and my mother is currently on the school board. I am the fourth of 10 children. My three brothers became dermatologists, so I am the odd man out, having become a plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgeon. Needless to say, family and education are very important parts of my life. I became very interested in plastic surgery when I watched a TV program as a young teenager that showed a person undergoing staged reconstruction for face damage after a severe car accident. I was amazed at the reconstruction that could and can be done. I am still amazed by the wonderful things we get to do in reconstructive surgery. I am at Kaiser Permanente because I feel that here I have the resources and freedom to give the best possible care. I enjoy the work that I do at Kaiser Permanente, and I feel that my patients appreciate the effort I put forth to obtain the best result possible.
How I thrive
Family, family, family is the way I thrive. If family life is going well, everything else falls into place. I also enjoy swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and doing many things with my wife and children. I tried a half Ironman (70.3) a year ago and will be doing another in 2015. Weekly church attendance helps tremendously to keep my life in balance with God, family, and work.
