About me
Hello, and welcome to my personalized Web page! Thank you for taking the time to read about my practice. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting you and working with you to achieve your health care goals.
Biography
I grew up in the small town of Nazareth, PA. I went to college at University of Rhode Island, attended graduate school in Miami and finished medical school in Philadelphia. After my first year of medical school I joined the U.S. Navy, went to Flight Surgery School in Pensacola, FL, and then was stationed in Kaneohe, HI for three years. After finishing a seven-month tour in Iraq I was honorably discharged and moved to Los Angeles to complete my family medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. After residency training, I accepted a position with Kaiser Permanente Hawaii and moved back to Oahu, HI for four years. I recently married and my husband and I live happily in Glendale with our French Bulldog Bruno. I’m excited to settle down and finally call Los Angeles my home.
About my practice
I specialize in family medicine, LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) healthcare, and HIV medicine. I am a certified HIV Specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine, and I am happy to assist with counseling and treatment for all issues surrounding HIV, including PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and general STD counseling and treatment. I believe that open communication is very important in developing a successful relationship with not just my team but also with my patients, so please feel comfortable to tell me what’s on your mind.
How I thrive
Staying fit is very important to me and I believe that maintaining a healthy weight, a healthy diet, and implementing a strict exercise regimen is important for your longevity as well as your sanity. (You can take the man out of the Marines but you can’t take the Marine out of the man!) My favorite “fit” past times are weight-lifting, hiking, rock climbing, and spinning. I like traveling around the world with my husband, exploring new people and places. One of the secrets to a successful life is maintaining a happy balance between mind, body and spirit, and this includes work, family and “playtime.” We only live once so let’s be grateful for what we have, remember to laugh every day and remember not to take life too seriously all the time. Hold on tight, take a deep breath, and let’s thrive!
