Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page.
I began practicing pediatric hematology/oncology with Kaiser Permanente in 1997 after a four-year fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. I was raised in Virginia and spent time in Boston for my pediatric training and in Salt Lake City learning to ski and snowboard (many years ago now!).
About my practice
I feel very fortunate to be practicing at Kaiser Permanente with the physicians and staff here. We treat children and adolescents with very serious illnesses and we strive to give them the highest-quality care available anywhere. The treatments we provide are, whenever possible, driven by results of clinical trials. Our section is an active member of the Children’s Oncology Group, the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to pediatric cancer research, and many of our patients have enrolled in national clinical trials. Our staff is comprised of dedicated professionals who are experienced in treating ill children, and we aim to give the best available treatment in a family-friendly environment.
How I thrive
“Thrive” is a great word because it makes one think of both change and motion. I feel that I am able to succeed professionally because of the constant intellectual and emotional challenges of treating the complex problems of the children and adolescents under my care. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy raising my children and try to look at the world through their eyes. I have always strived for balance in my life. I enjoy skiing in the winter and participating in triathlons in the summer. I often ride my bike to work and every once in while go for a run during my lunch hour. I enjoy learning about music and am intermittently trying to learn to play a lap steel guitar.
