About me

Hello! ¡Hola! My name is Rachel Abbott, and I am a female family medicine physician working at the Kaiser Permanente Clairemont Mesa Medical Offices. I love to provide care to the whole family, from newborns and children through adulthood. My health care niches include women’s health, maternity (prenatal) care, and pediatric care . I am fluent in Spanish.

Biography

I grew up in northern Los Angeles County and lived in San Diego for the first time while attending UC San Diego. I spent four years exploring the East Coast while attending medical school in Virginia, yet California remained home in my heart, and I returned for family medicine residency in 2011. I am happy to be settled in San Diego with my growing family. I love to spend time traveling, running, hiking, baking, and challenging myself with new hobbies (most recently triathlons).

About my practice

I am fluent in Spanish and have spent 10-plus years providing health care to Latino communities in the United States and abroad (namely El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico). My favorite aspect of family medicine is that I am able to take care of the entire family. I especially love caring for a pregnant woman through her pregnancy and then caring for both mother and her baby after delivery. I perform the following women’s health procedures as well: Nexplanon placement and removal, IUD (intrauterine device) placement and removal, and endometrial biopsies.

How I thrive

I strongly believe that to live well, one must have a full and balanced life. I strive to maintain a healthy mind and body through exercise (including yoga, running, hiking, and triathlons), strong relationships with family and friends, and a satisfying career.
