About me
Hello! I have a difficult-to-pronounce Thai name, so most of my colleagues call me "M.R." or “Dr. R." ("Dr. Rat" doesn't sound quite proper.) I look forward to meeting you and helping you recover from your work injury.
Biography
I am first generation Thai-American and spent my formative years between Bangkok and New York City. I was a competitive swimmer and synchronized swimmer through most of my childhood but also participated in crew and water polo in college.
I injured my right knee when I was 13 and subsequently became interested in orthopedics in medical school. Helping people recover from musculoskeletal injuries is my passion. I practiced pediatric orthopedics for over 15 years before making the switch to full-time occupational medicine in 2019. I have participated in medical missions to St. Lucia, China, and Myanmar.
About my practice
Having undergone 3 orthopedic surgical procedures myself, I understand how difficult recovering from an injury can be. Each experience has given me a unique perspective in helping members cope with their work injury and providing them with best treatment for their recovery.
How I thrive
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and our dog, exercising, crafting (sewing and crocheting), traveling around the world, and scuba diving with my husband. I am passionate about shark conservation and hope to spend more time volunteering in this cause.
