About me
Hello, and welcome! I’m happy to introduce myself and tell you about our preventive medicine practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of the great team work and the outstanding staff, who are all focused on helping you achieve the your best health. At Kaiser Permanente, promoting health and preventing disease is not a dream but a full-time career!
Biography
I’ve enjoyed living on both coasts of the United States as well as in Egypt—the country of my birth. I grew up in Brooklyn, completed medical school in Cairo, and then returned to New York, where I finished my training and became board-certified in internal medicine in 2004. This was followed by a second specialty residency as well as a master’s in public health at Loma Linda University in California. I became board-certified in preventive medicine in 2007. I am a faculty member at Loma Linda University and the California branch of Touro University. Administratively, I’m the physician lead for the Southern California region for tobacco cessation and alcohol screening. My research interests include reversing disease with whole food diets and reducing relapse after successful tobacco cessation.
About my practice
As a preventive medicine physician, I specialize in medically assisted weight loss, including the use of medications and preparation for bariatric surgery. Our team of health education specialists partners with us to enhance your state of health and prevent chronic diseases and their complications by promoting healthy eating, activity, and relaxation—all to help you feel your best. Among my areas of focus, is the treatment of type 2 diabetes through diet and lifestyle modification. I’m the Riverside physician champion for tobacco cessation—helping our members via classes and office consultations to become tobacco-free for life.
How I thrive
My mind, body, and spirit all need to be healthy for me to live well. Giving thanks and praying is an essential part of each day and really keeps me going, as does a loving relationship with my family. To stay fit while having fun, I love playing basketball with friends, cycling, and walking at the beach. I also enjoy regular volunteer work as an internist for the uninsured at a local free clinic.
