Where I practice
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Web page! As chief of the Department of Anesthesiology at Kaiser Permanente’s West Los Angeles Medical Center, my goal is that every member needing our services receives caring and professional treatment. We want to educate and reassure you before your procedure and keep you comfortable during and after it. I take our department’s responsibility seriously and welcome your feedback. Let me know if we’ve done something right or if there are areas in which we can improve.
I was born and raised in Southern California and knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a physician. I went to medical school at Hahnemann University (now Drexel University) in Philadelphia, had one year of general surgery training at the UC Irvine Medical Center, and received my anesthesiology training at Loma Linda University. I’ve been at West Los Angeles Medical Center since 1992, serving seven of those years as assistant chief and, starting in 2004, as the chief of the department. My interests outside the medical center include regular exercise and frequent travel.
About my practice
Members receiving care in our department have contact with many different providers. Our team consists of anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and anesthesia technicians. We work very closely with the surgeons, operating room nurses, and surgical technicians to provide our members with excellent surgical care.
How I thrive
Balancing life’s demands requires a constant commitment to mental and physical well-being. For me, that means a regular exercise program, getting adequate rest, and making time for movies, reading novels, concerts, playing with my dogs, and traveling.
