About me
Welcome to my Web page. I’m happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and members, and look forward to working with you to care for your health.
Biography
Although my parents were originally from Southern California, I was born and raised in Chicago. I grew up in a modest, quiet manner in a family who had experienced the Japanese-American interment camps in Arizona during World War II. I always wanted to enter a profession that would allow me to help other people in a meaningful and compassionate way. During my first year in college, my grandmother spent her final year with terminal cancer in our household. After assisting my mother in her selfless and compassionate care for my grandmother, I decided to pursue a career in medicine. My passion and commitment to helping others on an ongoing basis led me to the field of internal medicine and to the subspecialty of rheumatology. In this field, I’m able to help members with many ongoing conditions that may be painful, sometimes difficult to diagnose, and even dangerous. I thoroughly enjoy helping these members manage, combat, and cope with these conditions.
About my practice
My practice is in the internal medicine subspecialty of rheumatology. A rheumatologist can help to find the cause of many painful conditions, as well as many diseases of the immune system. Although this area of expertise allows us to provide the most help to those with immune-mediated diseases—such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others—we can also assist members with other painful conditions. Our rheumatology team does this by helping to diagnose the condition, advising on a plan of treatment, and coordinating care with the primary care physician or with other areas specialists. Our rheumatology team is here to help you! I firmly believe in Kaiser Permanente’s emphasis on the health and well-being of the whole person, and I try to live it in my own life. I believe that exercising regularly, getting good rest, and nurturing your emotional and spiritual well-being are extremely important to your optimal health and vitality.
How I thrive
My family is my highest priority in life. As a family, my wife, son, and I enjoy gatherings with our extended family, cooking and eating many types of food, traveling and hiking in many beautiful parks, and going to various performances—from children’s musicals to rock, R&B, jazz, and opera. I keep physically fit by walking, jogging, and playing tennis with my son. My most unique trait is that I am a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan. I thought I was going to heaven when the White Sox won the World Series in 2005. But, alas, they went downhill again, returning me to my life as a long-suffering fan. I pledge to do my best to help you—unless you’re a Cubs fan!
