Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to introduce myself and tell you about my work as a physician and physician administrator at Kaiser Permanente.
I grew up in a family of teachers. Beginning in high school, and during my early college years, I thought that I would become a teacher. I always loved the sciences in school, but did not consider medicine as a career until later. There was no single event that changed my mind and set me on the path to becoming a physician. It just seemed to be the natural direction for me to go when the time came to make a career decision. I have been very fortunate to end up working in a teaching hospital that has many residency and fellowship programs. Because of this, I was able to achieve both of my dreams. I am a physician and a teacher. As a cardiologist, I feel that healthy living and preventive care are the best ways to stay well. However, I am often faced with situations where heart problems have already developed. In such a situation, I want to work with you to overcome the challenges of your condition, and to help you get back to a good quality of life.
I am an interventional cardiologist and have practiced for over twenty-three years at our Los Angeles Medical Center. Although I continue to practice cardiology, I have taken on an additional administrative role as assistant medical director of the medical center. I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente. As a cardiologist, I have the opportunity to improve the lives of members, and as an administrator, I work to ensure that our medical center is among the best in the region.
Outside of the medical center, my family is my priority. My wife and I have a daughter and a son who are now both in college. In the past, I was very active in youth sports, coaching American Youth Soccer Organization players. I am still an assistant Scoutmaster for my son's old Boy Scout troop. I run regularly and play tennis when there is time.
