About me
My closest friends and family would probably describe me as a laid-back, friendly, simple kind of guy. It is important to me to enjoy the simple things in life and try to take things one day at a time. I am always open to learning and experiencing new things. Reading and traveling have always been important to me as I feel that there is so much to learn from other people’s perspectives and cultures. On every vacation I go, I choose a place I have never been. I really want to experience as much of the world as I can, so naturally traveling is one of my hobbies.
Biography
I was raised in Bakersfield, California, and went to elementary, middle, and high school there. Go, Mustangs! Growing up in Bakersfield was great! I knew shortly after I went to UC Irvine to study biological sciences that I would be back at some point. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I pursued my medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. I completed my 2 years of medical school clerkship at Kern Medical Center. After obtaining my medical degree, I performed 3 years of internal medicine residency at Eisenhower Medical Center (EMC) in Rancho Mirage, California. I was a third-year chief resident at EMC and gained invaluable skills in leadership, management, and teamwork. After training, I knew it was time to come back to Bakersfield to serve the community that I grew up in. I knew I wanted to join the Kaiser Permanente family and provide member-centered medical care.
About my practice
I truly believe that is a privilege to be a physician. The relationship between the doctor and the member is very special, and it must be built on mutual trust and openness. I strive to inform and educate members to help them make good decisions for themselves. As practitioners, we must treat the body, but at the same time we treat the soul of the member as the 2 go hand in hand. Sometimes the best healing we can provide is not a medication or procedure but rather a nonjudgmental ear to hear concerns, worries, or struggles and be a pillar of support for them. My goal is to provide exceptional physical, emotional, and psychiatric care to members, as all 3 are interdependent in the healing process.
How I thrive
The way I live well is by spending quality time with my family and significant other no matter how busy my schedule is. Incorporating them into my daily life allows me to relax and recharge. Physical well-being is important to me, so I go to the gym, go on hikes, and ride horses. I particularly enjoy cooking Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. Traveling is one of my most enjoyable hobbies, and the ability to learn and experience different cultures helps me to live well.
