About me
Welcome. I’m passionate about guiding members through some of the most challenging neurologic diagnoses with clarity, compassion, and advanced neurosurgical care.
Biography
I am a multi-fellowship–trained skull base and complex cranial neurosurgeon with a passion for helping members navigate some of the most challenging, and often intimidating, neurological conditions. Originally from the Midwest, I completed my medical and scientific training at Mayo Clinic and Ohio State University before coming to San Diego to join Kaiser Permanente and serve as an assistant professor at UC San Diego.
About my practice
I specialize in the treatment of skull base tumors, brain and spinal neoplasms, facial pain syndromes, hemifacial spasm, and other cranial and spinal disorders. What I enjoy most about neurosurgery is the opportunity to blend advanced surgical techniques with clear, compassionate communication, empowering members to make informed decisions that align with their goals. Beyond the operating room, I am involved in national neurosurgery societies and committees, outcomes research, multi-intuitional implementation of artificial intelligence in complex cranial care, and community education programs that expand access to specialized skull base care.
My practice is built around clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and a collaborative approach to complex cranial and skull base disorders. I believe members deserve a full understanding of their diagnosis, the available treatment options, and what to expect throughout their care. Whether someone is facing a brain tumor, trigeminal neuralgia, vestibular schwannoma, or another neurosurgical condition, I strive to combine advanced surgical techniques with individualized, compassionate guidance. I work closely with colleagues in otolaryngology/ear, nose, and throat (ENT), radiation oncology, oncology/neuro-oncology, neuro-ophthalmology, audiology, and other specialties to ensure patients receive coordinated, comprehensive care. Many members require long-term follow-up, and I view it as a privilege to support them through each stage of their journey, from initial evaluation to treatment and recovery.
How I thrive
I believe that a meaningful life outside of work makes me a better physician. I stay balanced by spending time with my family, staying active, and enjoying the outdoors. These moments help me recharge, maintain perspective, and bring my best self to member care.
