Where I practice
Welcome. My hope is that this Web page will help you learn a little about me. It’s important that you feel comfortable with your physician. My desire is to help you have the best health possible by providing high-quality and compassionate care.
I’m originally from Washington State but came to California for college and decided to stay. I didn't think about medicine as a career until midway through college. After some volunteer experiences, I realized that medicine was a much better fit for me than basic scientific research. Surgery was a field I thought wasn't for me when I began medical school, but during a family practice elective at a mission hospital in Mexico, I discovered that it was actually my true calling. The rest is history, as they say. I have served in Mexico many times and continue to work to improve my Spanish.
About my practice
As a general surgeon, I care for a broad spectrum of ailments. My passion, however, is general breast care and specifically breast cancer care. Cancer is an especially emotional diagnosis. My staff and I aim to help every member get the information they need to make well-informed decisions amid an increasingly complex array of treatment options. We also want to emotionally support our members through the many facets of their cancer journey. In more recent years, I have become increasingly involved in administrative work. I enjoy working to make our health care system the best it can be for our members and their families.
How I thrive
I maintain an active lifestyle and have a diverse community of friends. Since 2006 I have also been mostly vegetarian. A vegetarian diet helps me eat more healthfully and maintain a healthy weight.
