Where I practice
About me
I am a board-certified oncologist practicing in Bakersfield, and I received my medical degree from University Institute of Medicine 1 in Yangon, Myanmar. I have been caring for patients for more than 20 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support members and their families through every stage of their care.
Biography
I completed my training in the Northeast and along the East Coast, gaining broad clinical experience in diverse medical settings. Ultimately, I chose to settle in warm, sunny Southern California, where I have been privileged to continue practicing medicine and serving the community.
About my practice
A career in medicine offers a special opportunity to connect with people in a meaningful way — not only through clinical skill and medical knowledge, but also by listening and responding to each member’s individual needs. I take pride in building trusting relationships with members, communicating closely with them and their families, and ensuring they receive appropriate and timely evaluations. I am honored that members have entrusted me with their care, and I strive to treat each person with the same compassion and respect that I would offer to my own family.
My Cancer Subspecialty Focus
As a hematologist/oncologist, I care for individuals with a wide range of complex medical and oncologic conditions. My clinical expertise includes breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, sarcoma, head and neck cancers, genitourinary cancers, skin cancers including melanoma, lung cancer and thymoma, thyroid and endocrine tumors, and both malignant and benign hematologic disorders. I am committed to staying current with advancing cancer therapies to ensure each member receives personalized care that is based on evidence and current research and is aligned with their goals and values.
Regional Multidisciplinary Teams
I participate actively in regional multidisciplinary tumor boards, collaborating with experts in surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, and radiology. This team-based approach ensures that each member receives a comprehensive, coordinated treatment plan informed by the collective expertise of multiple specialists.
Research and Clinical Trials
Advancing cancer care through research is an important part of my practice. I serve as a sub-investigator on clinical trials through several National Cancer Institute–supported research networks, including SWOG Cancer Research Network, the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and NRG Oncology. Participation in these research efforts allows me to bring emerging therapies and innovative treatment options directly to our Kaiser Permanente community.
How I thrive
Maintaining balance in my life is essential to my well-being and the care I provide. My family is my top priority, and spending meaningful time with them helps keep me grounded, energized, and focused on what matters most.
