Where I practice
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my Web page! My name is Dr. Huynh. I am proud to be a Kaiser Permanente physician and part of the General Surgery Department. My passion is taking care of members and helping them every step of the way through their surgical journey.
I was born in Vietnam but immigrated here to the United States with my parents and 8 older siblings at a young age. After venturing outside of California for my graduate and medical degrees in Washington, DC, and then Vermont, sunny California called me back, and I’m happy to be home again! I was always drawn to the field of surgery because of the unique bond between a surgeon and his or her patient, the complexity and challenges of each operation, and the ability to have meaningful and immediate impact on a patient’s condition. I’m lucky to have a supportive (and very understanding!) husband, who is an internist, and now a beautiful son and daughter.
About my practice
My practice includes general surgery with a special interest in breast cancer care. Since my undergraduate years, I have actively been involved in cancer research and believe we are only at the cusp of significant breakthroughs that will allow us to detect cancer at earlier stages and develop targeted and improved treatments. It is a privilege and honor when a cancer patient entrusts his or her care to me. As a surgeon, I work closely with other departments to ensure a multidisciplinary and team approach for each member. One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is the ability to work with amazing colleagues and support staff in the clinic, operating room, and throughout the hospital.
How I thrive
To live a healthy life, I spend as much time as possible with my kids and husband. You can find us on the weekends at Disneyland, swimming, shopping at the farmers market, or just enjoying quality time as a family. When time allows, I love cooking and planning parties to bring people together — with 19 grandkids, you can imagine holidays are a blast! It’s the ability to balance my love of medicine and surgery with family life that keeps me motivated and going each day. Each thank you from a member reminds me of why I love being a physician!
