About me
Hello, and thank you for visiting my home page. I'm glad for this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as an optometrist. I have practiced at Kaiser Permanente since 2006 and feel very fortunate to be surrounded by great colleagues and members. I look forward to getting to know you as well, and working with you to care for your vision and eye health.
Biography
I was born in Southern California at a Kaiser Permanente hospital and was raised in the San Gabriel Valley area. My husband and I are pleased to live in this area, where we love to spend time with our 2 daughters. I also enjoy volunteering in our community's youth league, as well as serving in the PTA and classrooms at my daughters' schools. I knew at an early age that I wanted to become an optometrist, seeing the career as a special opportunity to connect with and help people in a meaningful way. I stayed in Southern California to complete my optometry degree in 2003 and then pursued a post-doctoral residency concentrating in ocular disease management and low vision rehabilitation (helping people overcome barriers related to their visual impairment). I worked in private practice prior to joining Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I count it a joy to serve members and feel honored that they have entrusted me with their care. I strive to treat them as I would my own family. My goal is to partner with members in their care—taking time to discuss, discern, and anticipate their needs as individuals, to thoroughly examine their vision status and eye health, to make assessments based on up-to-date research and technology, and then empower members with the knowledge, understanding, and resources to see and live at their best. I help members pursue options that would best meet their visual needs—whether through glasses, contact lenses, low vision aids, or referrals for surgery or comanagement with other physicians. Communicating with members and their families is important to me, and I enjoy discussing their concerns, questions, and hopes to help them live well.
How I thrive
In my free time, I enjoy being with family and friends at home, at the beach, and on hiking trails or bike paths, and exploring different attractions and eateries locally and on our travels abroad. I love music and balance my life by enjoying live concerts and playing and teaching the piano. I also enjoy cooking and strive to incorporate wholesome ingredients into dishes that I create. I believe that it is easiest to live well when our whole family is involved in making healthful decisions.
