Where I practice
Thank you for visiting my Web page. I am very happy for the opportunity to share information about my practice and myself with you. I hope this helps you feel comfortable about your upcoming visit and your experience at Kaiser Permanente.
I was born in Puerto Rico but raised in Paraguay, my father's home country. It was there that I studied medicine, at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción. From the first year of medical school, I knew I wanted to be a surgeon, starting with the early hands-on experience during anatomy lessons. After 1 year of rotational internship at the Hospital de Clínicas of the university, I moved to New York with my 2 brothers and started a preliminary internship in general surgery at Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester in New York. Then I did my residency in general surgery at New York's Harlem Hospital Center. Finally, I decided to move to the West Coast, and completed fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery at University of California - Davis. Following that, I joined Kaiser Permanente and now I am glad to be part of this wonderful team of surgeons. I could not have gone through every step of my career without the invaluable support of my lovely wife.
About my practice
I practice general surgery with an emphasis in obesity treatment and other laparoscopic (minimally invasive) procedures. I find this field of surgery most rewarding because of the impact on the wellness of my members, not only for weight loss and improvement in conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, but also for the changes in the social and psychological aspects of their lives. I am very fortunate to have the support of all the nurses and the rest of the hospital staff. Thanks to their relentless work, I am able to focus on what is most important for me, which is taking care of members.
How I thrive
All my life I have followed the example of my parents, who have always taught me about self-improvement and dedication to work without forgetting the importance of the family. That is why I enjoy my free time with my wife, my daughter, and friends, and always stay in touch with my family. Music has been part of my life ever since I was a child, when I started playing guitar and keyboards, and I use it to express myself and relax. I also like running, swimming, and cycling to find a balance between body and mind.
