Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my biography. I've lived in Los Angeles since I emigrated here from Mexico in 2007. I like L.A. a lot, and the Southern California lifestyle is perfect for me! I like to work out all the time and ride my bicycle — most weekends I ride 50 or more miles in the mornings, then go hiking in the Santa Monica mountains. Short trips around the area are my favorite. I visit wine country in the central coast a few times a year and go to Palm Springs frequently. My family is small; my husband and I have two dogs (Goldendoodles).
I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. My mom's family worked in the central valley fields picking grapes, and as a child I spent all my summers in Delano, California, going to summer school to keep busy while mom worked; during the school year I was in Guadalajara in regular school. In my teenage years I decided to spend more time in the United States. I stayed in the U.S. for my senior year of high school, and then continued to college at California State University - Bakersfield. I soon knew my life was in medicine, and when I was 19 I moved back home and attended the state university, from which I graduated in 2006.
About my practice
My clinic at the Kaiser Permanente North Hollywood Medical Offices is very diverse, and I have the pleasure to help patients from any age population and cultural backgrounds. I am passionate about LGBTQ care, and I’m especially focused on HIV prophylaxis (prevention), working with gay men of all ages to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted infections. I speak Spanish as a first language and I am also bicultural: I fully understand the Latino culture and use that understanding to customize my patients' care. I offer preventive services, same-day/urgent care, chronic disease management, and management of diseases that can affect the muscles, bones, and joints.
How I thrive
To thrive, I participate in many activities. I go to the gym 4 to 6 times a week; I like running, weight training, indoor cycle, group classes and yoga. On weekends, I ride my bicycle long distance. My husband and I love camping and take our dogs with us. Sometimes we just go on short trips and enjoy the local national parks or the beaches. I also like to ride my motorcycle and take short trips up the coast.
