Where I practice
Hello, and welcome. Thank you for your interest in Kaiser Permanente and my services. I am Dr. John Chico and I am excited for the opportunity to assist you in managing your health and wellness.
I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and attended Villanova University for my undergraduate studies. Since that time, I have lived in different parts of the United States, and eventually attended medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico. I later returned to Chicago to complete my residency training in family medicine and then worked as a traveling physician for 5 years prior to joining Kaiser Permanente. I have worked in Pennsylvania, Chicago, Hawaii, and throughout the California coast. I also worked in Taupo, New Zealand, for 1 year. I am grateful for my time as a traveling physician, as it allowed me time to refine my skills and learn how other cultures and communities manage their health.
About my practice
As a board-certified family physician, I care for people of all ages and enjoy providing comprehensive care: pediatrics, geriatrics, sports medicine, women's health, and much more. I view medical care as a partnership, whereby you, the member, rely on my skills to assist you in living as healthy and fulfilling a life as you can, but you make the final decisions for your health. I see my role as an advisor of your health. Communication and accountability for all parties involved in your healthcare are vital to make this partnership fully thrive.
How I thrive
I believe that balance is the key to fulfillment and good health. To achieve this, I meditate and exercise daily and focus on maintaining a balanced diet. I enjoy triathlon training, and I practice each discipline regularly. I also enjoy playing the guitar, skiing, scuba diving, playing golf, and hiking.
