Where I practice
Welcome, my name is Jennifer Mercado and I am a family medicine physician. I am happy to have this opportunity to share some information about myself with you. I know it is important to feel comfortable with and to build a relationship with your personal physician. I hope this Web page can help do that.
I grew up in Southern California in a large traditional Latino family. I attended UC San Diego for my undergraduate degree, and then UCLA School of Medicine. I am married and have two wonderful children. I chose to become a doctor at an early age when I began sharing in the care for my grandmother who suffered from asthma and diabetes.
About my practice
I am a family medicine physician and care for both children and adults. I feel that being and staying healthy requires active participation from both doctor and patient. Establishing a trusting relationship with my patients is important. My role is to help facilitate your health care by providing my expert knowledge, advice, and listening to your needs. Preventive medicine is important and I strive to keep all my patients healthy and in sickness help them on their way to health as quickly as possible.
How I thrive
It is important to have a healthy balance between work, family, and personal time. My family is the most important thing to me. I spend time with my children in school and out. I volunteer with the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Club and in the classroom. I enjoy art and craft projects with my daughter and toy trains with my son. My husband and I enjoy attending music concerts and running. We are currently training for a half marathon in January 2015. Of course, quiet family time at home is always great.
