About me

I am board certified in hematology and medical oncology, specializing in lung cancer and head and neck cancer. These areas are my primary focus, and I am committed to providing comprehensive, personalized care that incorporates the latest advances in medicine and research.

Biography

Originally from Canada, I grew up in Southern California and spent 10 years on the East Coast at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC, where I earned my medical degree, completed my internal medicine residency, and pursued a fellowship in hematology and oncology.

After completing my training, I returned to Los Angeles to be closer to family and have been practicing at Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center ever since. I’m so glad you're visiting my page. As a lifelong Kaiser Permanente member, I truly understand the importance of feeling confident and supported in your healthcare journey.

About my practice

My Cancer Subspecialty

My primary focus is in treating lung cancer and head and neck cancer, both of which require tailored care approaches. In my practice, I focus on offering the latest therapies, including access to clinical trials, and providing compassionate support for members navigating the complexities of their diagnosis. I understand that cancer treatment can be overwhelming, and I’m committed to walking through this journey with you every step of the way.

National Expertise in Multidisciplinary Teams

Cancer care requires a collaborative approach, and I am honored to be part of several multidisciplinary teams focused on delivering positive outcomes for members. I serve as the Southern California regional lead for head and neck cancer, the Kaiser Permanente Southern California mesothelioma lead, and the Kaiser Permanente national co-lead for head and neck cancer.

I also contribute to the Lung and Head and Neck Tumor Boards, where specialists from various disciplines come together to create personalized care plans for each patient. As a member of the Southern California Regional Subspecialty Lung Oncology and Head and Neck Oncology Committees, I’ve worked closely on data analysis of emerging therapeutics, some of which have been introduced into the National Kaiser Permanente Oncology Care Pathways. This ensures that members receive up-to-date care based on evidence and current research.

Research and Clinical Trials

I am a proud member of several prestigious oncology research groups, National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Program. I am a sub-investigator in:

  • SWOG Cancer Research Network
  • NSABP (National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project), Alliance, and NRG Oncology
  • Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology
  • NRG Oncology

My research involvement includes collaboration with leading oncology research networks, such as SWOG Cancer Research Network, NSABP, Alliance, and NRG Oncology. My work aims to advance cancer treatment options and improve patient outcomes.

How I thrive

Outside of my work as a doctor, I prioritize maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I enjoy eating nutritious foods (I’m definitely a label-reader!), staying active with regular exercise, and riding my bike on weekends. Meditation and prayer help me stay grounded, and I truly cherish spending quality time with my family and friends, who provide the support and perspective that keep me centered.
