About me
Welcome to my Web page. I have been in practice in gastroenterology at Kaiser Permanente’s West Los Angeles Medical Center for over 25 years. It has been an honor and a privilege for me to be able to work as a physician for so many years.
Biography
I grew up in New York City and Los Angeles. I attended Northwestern University and received a Bachelor of Science degree and then also received my medical degree from Northwestern University. My residency in internal medicine was performed at the UC San Francisco. I received the honor of being selected for an additional year as the chief medical resident at UCSF as well. My gastroenterology fellowship was performed at UCLA. I am a professor of Medicine at USC, an associate professor of Medicine at UCLA, and the area medical director and chief of staff at Kaiser Permanente’s West Los Angeles Medical Center. I developed a strong desire to become a doctor at the age of 12, when I saw my grandmother treated so compassionately by her doctor when she had cancer.
About my practice
My practice is limited to gastroenterology. I take care of patients who have a variety of conditions of the entire gastrointestinal tract as well as the liver. I perform a wide range of endoscopic procedures that examine the digestive system. My colleagues and I in the Gastroenterology Department work together as a team. We perform many types of gastrointestinal (GI) procedures and place a strong emphasis on dealing with the medical and emotional needs of our patients. I am the area medical director for West Los Angeles, so my focus is to ensure that all of our members receive high-quality, compassionate medical care. I am extremely proud of the professionalism exhibited by our medical staff and nurses.
How I thrive
I feel strongly that personal relationships are fundamental to a tranquil, gratifying life. My family, friends, patients, and colleagues are extremely important to me and help give me a great sense of purpose. I also value having diverse experiences, traveling to new locations, knowing people from different backgrounds, and sharing experiences with others. The mind-body connection is very powerful, so I try to exercise regularly. My hobbies include exercising and movies. I enjoy good food and especially enjoy having fun with my friends and family.
