About me
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. Built on trust, the doctor-patient relationship is a privilege, and it brings me great satisfaction to approach your visual and medical needs together as a team. I am happy to be a part of this superb healthcare team, and I thank you for your trust in allowing me to help you.
Biography
As a homegrown Southern Californian who later lived in Northern California, the East Coast as well as the South, I have a gained an appreciation for the Los Angeles weather as well as its local community. I attended Stanford, Oxford, Yale, and was a concert pianist before switching to medicine. For more details about my medical background, please click on the "training and certification" link. While being equipped with a skill set for microsurgery pointed me towards this field, what fascinated me most about ophthalmology was that through eye care, besides addressing quality of life, productivity, and happiness for the patient and family at the individual level, was that so many people all over the world are in need of high-quality eye care for glaucoma and other eye diseases.
About my practice
I strive to listen, communicate, and incorporate members’ biopsychosocial needs into every office encounter while pledging myself to the craft of providing the highest-quality eye care in the safest manner possible for the individual. As an ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in glaucoma, I have a concentration on the management of glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment diseases. The surgeries I perform include trabeculectomy, tube shunt implants, conjunctiva-sparing minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, laser glaucoma procedures, complex cataract surgery, and secondary lens implants for those with insufficient structural support for a traditional lens implant. My professional interests include patient care first and foremost, clinical research, physician education, and medical missions. My professional affiliations include American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, and the Heed Foundation.
How I thrive
For me, to "thrive" means to prioritize work-life balance so that we are mindful, productive, and successful in all that we do. My strategy to thrive includes putting loved ones first (God, family, friends, patients), watching what I eat, remaining physically active, keeping up with sports, traveling, and exploring aesthetics in fine art. As a wise friend once told me, we must be healthy now in order to enjoy retirement in the future!
