About me
Hello! Welcome to my Web page, where I am going to take the opportunity to talk about myself so you can hopefully get to know me a little better. I am a member of the infectious diseases team at Kaiser Permanente, which makes me feel fortunate and blessed. Being an infectious diseases doctor means that I see members who may have any of a wide variety of infections affecting any of the body organ systems.
Biography
I was born and grew up in a southern province of Iran. I attended medical school at the University of Tehran in the capital city, which has for long been the most competitive medical school in the country. After graduation, I started practicing as a general practitioner for some years before I immigrated to the United States with my family. I did my residency training in internal medicine at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, followed by a fellowship training in infectious diseases at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York, and after that I joined a private practice group in New York. We then moved to Irvine because of my wife's job, and this is how we fell in love with the beautiful sunny Southern California and decided to call it home.
About my practice
As mentioned earlier, I am an infectious diseases (ID) specialist, and I take care of members who have an infection. This infection may involve any part of the body and may be caused by any type of many different infectious agents such as viruses, bacteria, or fungi. As ID doctors, we get involved in the care of members after being consulted by other specialists when it is felt that our expertise is required. I see members in the hospital and also as outpatient.
How I thrive
I take great joy in doing my job every day. It is very rewarding if I can help relieve at least some of the suffering members may be experiencing. On another hand, the infectious diseases specialty deals with the challenge of diagnosing the condition and the mental challenge of solving problems, and this has always been appealing to me. This is why I don't see my job as a separate compartment of my life. In fact, without my job, I would most likely feel a void. At the same time, I absolutely believe that it is crucial to keep a life-work balance. I love music, and it has a special place in my life. By saying that I mostly mean I enjoy listening to music, I think I am much better at consuming rather than producing tunes! I should say though that I have a setar (a traditional Persian instrument) which I am trying to learn to play. I also take great joy in watching films. Biking is another hobby that I have liked a lot since I was a kid. Above all these, I absolutely love spending time with my family, whether it is just sitting together at the dinner table, or watching a movie, or traveling.
